BANGKOK, April 4 (Xinhua) -- UNEX EV Co. Ltd. introduced its comprehensive battery-swapping ecosystem in Thailand on Friday, in a step to drive the Southeast Asian country toward smart and green mobility.

Pitak Pruitthisarikorn, CEO and co-founder of UNEX EV, said at the launch event that the company's battery-swapping platform is designed to serve various types of electric vehicles (EVs) ranging from private to commercial and public transport, whether used on land, in water, or in the air.

Acknowledging that long charging time, range anxiety, and battery degradation are key concerns in EV adoption, Pitak said the swapping system reduces downtime to just three minutes, allowing drivers to continue their journey without delay.

Additionally, this approach reduces the load on the electricity grid and supports network expansion without costly infrastructure upgrades, he said.

Powered by advanced battery-swapping technology from U Power Limited, a Chinese vehicle-sourcing service provider, Pitak said the system features real-time monitoring tools to track battery health and energy use, offering operational and financial efficiency for commercial fleet operators.

According to UNEX EV, the firm has signed agreements with key partners to scale its battery-swapping network, including collaboration with petrol station operator Susco to roll out battery swap points nationwide and Chinese automaker SAIC's MG brand to launch compatible EV models.

It also plans to open more than 1,000 battery-swapping stations across Thailand, starting with the first to be operational in the resort island of Phuket this May, a location chosen for its concentration of public transport vehicles.
