U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, March 21 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar climbed in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased by 0.23 percent to 104.089 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.0821 U.S. dollars from 1.0848 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2927 dollars from 1.2960 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 149.22 Japanese yen, higher than 148.80 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar added to 0.8830 Swiss francs from 0.8819 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.4347 Canadian dollars from 1.4328 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar decreased to 10.1178 Swedish Kronor from 10.1336 Swedish Kronor.
