U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, March 18 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar softened in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.12 percent to 103.246 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0944 U.S. dollars from 1.0926 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound climbed to 1.3004 dollars from 1.2997 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 149.23 Japanese yen, higher than 149.18 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.8765 Swiss francs from 0.8806 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.4304 Canadian dollars from 1.4283 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 10.0357 Swedish Kronor from 10.0885 Swedish Kronor.
