U.S. stocks close higher


NEW YORK, March 14 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks ended higher on Friday.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 674.62 points, or 1.66 percent, to 41,488.19. The S&P 500 added 117.42 points, or 2.13 percent, to 5,638.94. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 451.08 points, or 2.61 percent, to 17,754.09.

All of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with technology and energy leading the gainers by going up 3.04 percent and 2.81 percent, respectively. Consumer staples posted the weakest growth, up by 0.28 percent.
