Australia offers income support for workers hit by ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred

SYDNEY (Reuters) - The Australian government said on Monday it would activate financial support for workers who lost income due to ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred, which has caused widespread flooding, power outages and property damage across the east coast.

The storm hit land north of Brisbane, Australia's third-most populous city, late on Saturday after being downgraded to a tropical low, pummeling the states of Queensland and New South Wales.
