U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Feb. 19 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Wednesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.11 percent to 107.173 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.0425 U.S. dollars from 1.0445 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound dropped to 1.2584 dollars from 1.2597 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 151.52 Japanese yen, lower than 151.92 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.9038 Swiss francs from 0.9036 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.4232 Canadian dollars from 1.4188 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was down to 10.7225 Swedish Kronor from 10.7249 Swedish Kronor.
