U.S. dollar ticks up


NEW YORK, Feb. 18 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, added 0.3 percent to 107.057 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro lost to 1.0445 U.S. dollars from 1.0482 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2597 dollars from 1.2628 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 151.92 Japanese yen, higher than 151.40 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar climbed to 0.9036 Swiss francs from 0.9009 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.4188 Canadian dollars from 1.4185 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar increased to 10.7249 Swedish Kronor from 10.6945 Swedish Kronor.
