PRAGUE, Feb. 7 (Xinhua) -- Czechia welcomed approximately 22.8 million tourists in 2024, surpassing pre-pandemic levels for the first time, according to a press release issued by the Czech Statistical Office (CSO) on Friday.

The number of tourists staying overnight in the Czech Republic last year increased by 3.8 percent year-on-year, while overnight stays rose by 2.6 percent to reach 57.3 million nights.

Germany was the leading source of visitors, with nearly 600,000 German tourists traveling to Czechia last year.

For the first time, both the number of accommodated guests and overnight stays exceeded the figures recorded before the COVID-19 outbreak in 2019, the CSO noted.

Compared to 2019, Czechia saw an increase of 820,000 guests in accommodation facilities in 2024, with overnight stays rising by 264,000 nights.
