Anthropic raises additional 1 bln USD from Google: report


SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 22 (Xinhua) -- Anthropic, a U.S. artificial intelligence (AI) safety and research company, has raised around 1 billion U.S. dollars from Google as it looks to deliver a number of major product updates this year, TechCrunch reported Wednesday.

Google's new investment brings its total stake in Anthropic to about 3 billion dollars, the report said.

Anthropic is also in the process of raising up to 2 billion dollars from investors including Lightspeed at a 60-billion-dollar valuation.

According to Crunchbase, Anthropic has raised 14.7 billion dollars altogether.

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei said on Tuesday that the company plans to launch new AI models, bring "two-way" voice chat and web access to its chatbot, Claude, and roll out an AI system called the "Virtual Collaborator."
