U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.36 percent to 109.346 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).
