U.S. dollar ticks down


NEW YORK, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar decreased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, dropped 0.61 percent to 109.280 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0298 U.S. dollars from 1.0208 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound advanced to 1.2200 dollars from 1.2167 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 157.94 Japanese yen, higher than 157.81 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar declined to 0.9127 Swiss francs from 0.9191 Swiss francs, and it decreased to 1.4365 Canadian dollars from 1.4412 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar fell to 11.1796 Swedish Kronor from 11.2895 Swedish Kronor.
