N'DJAMENA, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chad's Foreign Minister Abderaman Koulamallah said Wednesday evening that the security situation in the country is under control after gunshots were heard near the presidency.

"I am currently at presidency where the situation is under control. There is nothing to worry about. It was a small incident. Nothing major," Koulamallah said in a live Facebook video, promising that details of what happened will be announced later.

Local media reported that militants of terror group Boko Haram attempted to carry out an attack near the presidency but were repelled by Chadian troops.
