Slovak universities on alert following threatening emails

BRATISLAVA, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Several universities in Slovakia were placed on alert Thursday after receiving threatening emails.

The Slovak University of Technology and Comenius University in Bratislava, Trnava University in Trnava, and Pavol Jozef Safarik University in Kosice all reported receiving emails containing threats. Following police recommendations, the universities evacuated their buildings and conducted thorough searches of the premises.

Earlier this year, similar emails were sent to middle schools and churches.

Interior Minister Matus Sutaj Estok said that authorities are working to identify potential perpetrators of these hybrid attacks and bomb threats targeting schools and public buildings.

"We have examined both cases in great detail, but we cannot disclose specifics to the public at this stage," Estok said.
