U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.27 percent to 106.972 at 3:00 p.m. (2000 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro fell to 1.0484 dollars from 1.0539 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound declined to 1.2602 dollars from 1.2647 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 154.51 Japanese yen, lower than 155.37 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.8863 Swiss francs from 0.8844 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3964 Canadian dollars from 1.3984 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar climbed to 11.0508 Swedish Kronor from 11.0327 Swedish Kronor.
