U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Friday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.29 percent to 104.281 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.0839 U.S. dollars from 1.0848 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound lost to 1.2926 U.S. dollars from 1.2957 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 152.97 Japanese yen, almost unchanged from the previous session. The U.S. dollar traded nearly flat at 0.8705 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3952 Canadian dollars from 1.3925 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.7470 Swedish Kronor from 10.7310 Swedish Kronor.
