U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar advanced in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, gained 0.06 percent to 104.316 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.0812 U.S. dollars from 1.0803 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound declined to 1.2968 U.S. dollars from 1.2969 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 153.26 Japanese yen, higher than 152.25 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.8652 Swiss francs from 0.8663 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3896 Canadian dollars from 1.3886 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was up to 10.6471 Swedish kronor from 10.6191 Swedish kronor.
