U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased by 0.36 percent to 104.058 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.0823 U.S. dollars from 1.0781 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.2973 U.S. dollars from 1.2923 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 151.83 Japanese yen, lower than 152.66 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.8660 Swiss francs from 0.8670 Swiss francs, and it advanced to 1.3856 Canadian dollars from 1.3840 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar lost to 10.5632 Swedish kronor from 10.6045 Swedish kronor.
