U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, decreased 0.04 percent to 103.259 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.0887 U.S. dollars from 1.0897 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound added to 1.3068 dollars from 1.3051 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 149.28 Japanese yen, lower than 149.90 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.8628 Swiss francs from 0.8637 Swiss francs, and it lost to 1.3793 Canadian dollars from 1.3802 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 10.4203 Swedish Kronor from 10.4337 Swedish Kronor.
