U.S. reports campus shooting at Georgia high school


NEW YORK, Sept. 4 (Xinhua) -- Casualties have been reported in a campus shooting at a high school in U.S. state of Georgia on Wednesday, local authorities said.

The shooting happened at Apalachee High School in Winder, Georgia.

"Casualties have been reported, however details on the number or their conditions are not available at this time," said a statement from the Barrow County Sheriff's Office.

The office told media that there was an active shooter situation earlier Wednesday morning and multiple law enforcement agencies and emergency responders were dispatched to the school around 10:30 a.m.

One person has been taken into custody, the office confirmed.

Apalachee High School was put on a hard lockdown after the shooting. One gunshot victim from the school was sent to local hospital. No other information was released.
