Inflation in Albania falls in July


TIRANA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- Albania's consumer price index (CPI) fell by 0.2 percent in July, indicating that inflation pressure has been easing in recent months, the country's Institute of Statistics (INSTAT) said on Thursday.

The annual CPI increase was 2.1 percent in July, while the figure for July 2023 was 4.2 percent.

Prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by 0.7 percent in July, while the cost of recreation and culture was 0.5 percent lower.

Household furniture and maintenance, clothing and footwear, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco saw the highest yearly increases, at 3.5 percent, 3.3 percent and 3.1 percent respectively. Communication and transportation costs saw the smallest increases, at 0.2 percent and 0.3 percent respectively.
