Olympics | Lee/Wang of Chinese Taipei claim badminton men's doubles title


PARIS, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin of Chinese Taipei won over Chinese duo Liang Weikeng and Wang Chang to take the badminton men's doubles title in a three-set match 17-21, 21-18, 19-21 at the Paris Olympics on Sunday.

Malaysia's Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik captured the bronze medal by defeating Denmark's Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen 16-21, 22-20, 21-19.

Thailand's men's singles player Kunlavut Vitidsarn beat Malaysia's Lee Zii Jia 21-14, 21-15, setting up a showdown Denmark's Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen in Monday's final. The bronze medal match will feature Lee against India's Lakshya Sen.

In the women's singles semifinals, South Korea's An Se-young came back from a set down to win two straight games against Indonesia's Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.

Spain's No. 4 seed Carolina Marin was forced to withdraw from her semifinal match against China's He Bingjiao due to knee injury. Marin had won the first set 21-14 and was leading in the second set. He advanced to the final, where she will face An on Monday morning.
