U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, July 25 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.03 percent to 104.355 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.0848 dollars from 1.0838 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.2859 U.S. dollars from 1.2904 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 153.79 Japanese yen, lower than 154.00 yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.8805 Swiss francs from 0.8858 francs, and it increased to 1.3824 Canadian dollars from 1.3814 dollars. The U.S. dollar added to 10.8147 Swedish Kronor from 10.7861 Kronor.
