U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, May 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.36 percent to 104.716 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro rose to 1.0837 U.S. dollars from 1.0806 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.2737 U.S. dollars from 1.2705 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 156.83 Japanese yen, lower than 157.67 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar decreased to 0.9036 Swiss francs from 0.9137 Swiss francs, and it declined to 1.3675 Canadian dollars from 1.3711 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar was down to 10.5920 Swedish kronor from 10.6735 Swedish kronor.
