U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Thursday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.43 percent to 105.299 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro was nearly flat at 1.0730 U.S. dollars, and the British pound fell to 1.2538 U.S. dollars from 1.2549 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 153.06 Japanese yen, lower than 157.12 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar dropped to 0.9100 Swiss francs from 0.9163 Swiss francs, and it was down to 1.3670 Canadian dollars from 1.3707 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar decreased to 10.8581 Swedish kronor from 10.8983 Swedish kronor.
