U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, April 30 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Tuesday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.61 percent to 106.221 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.0678 U.S. dollars from 1.0725 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2503 U.S. dollars from 1.2563 U.S. dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 157.70 Japanese yen, higher than 155.82 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.9192 Swiss francs from 0.9100 Swiss francs, and it rose to 1.3761 Canadian dollars from 1.3661 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar advanced to 11.0069 Swedish kronor from 10.9203 Swedish kronor.
