U.S. dollar ticks down

NEW YORK, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar weakened in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, lost 0.34 percent to 105.578 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).

In late New York trading, the euro advanced to 1.0725 U.S. dollars from 1.0705 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was up to 1.2563 dollars from 1.2502 dollars in the previous session.

The U.S. dollar bought 155.82 Japanese yen, lower than 157.72 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was down to 0.9100 Swiss francs from 0.9133 Swiss francs, and it increased to 1.3661 Canadian dollars from 1.3656 Canadian dollars. The U.S. dollar declined to 10.9203 Swedish kronor from 10.9309 Swedish kronor.
