Moderate earthquake strikes Taiwan


TAIPEI: A moderate earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit Taiwan at 8.04am on Tuesday (April 23).

According to a Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) statement, the quake with a depth of 10km occurred 71km southeast of Taichung, Taiwan.

It said that an initial assessment showed no tsunami threat to Malaysia. - Bernama
