Tanzania's central bank increases policy rate to 6 pct for Q2


DAR ES SALAAM, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Tanzania's Central Bank announced on Thursday an increase in the central bank rate or policy rate from 5.5 percent in the first quarter of 2024 to 6 percent in the second quarter.

Emmanuel Tutuba, the governor of the Bank of Tanzania, announced the increased policy rate at a meeting with chief executive officers of banking institutions and mobile money service providers in the port city of Dar es Salaam.
