ISLAMABAD, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan recorded a current account surplus of 128 million U.S. dollars in February this year following a deficit in the previous month, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said Tuesday.

The data revealed that a deficit of 303 million dollars appeared during the previous month of January.

Meanwhile, during the first eight months of the current fiscal year starting from July 2023 to June 2024, the current account balance stood at a deficit of 1 billion dollars, massively lower than 3.85 billion dollars during the same period of the previous year, the SBP said.

Economists said the increase in exports and decrease in imports considerably contributed to the surplus in February.
