Celebration held in Baghdad to mark Chinese New Year

BAGHDAD, Feb. 15 (Xinhua) -- A celebration was held in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Thursday to mark the Chinese Lunar New Year, which fell on Feb. 10 this year.

The event, which was hosted by the Iraqi-Chinese Friendship Association, featured Chinese dragon and lion dances and other traditional Chinese performances.

In a speech delivered at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Iraq Cui Wei spoke highly of the solid progress and fruitful results achieved in the China-Iraq relations over the past year.

Haider Alrubeiy, head of the Iraqi-Chinese Friendship Association, said that the celebration was held "to share the joy and happiness of the Chinese people" during the Chinese New Year holiday.

He sent his festival greetings to the Chinese people and wished China success in all fields.

Dozens of representatives from Chinese companies in Iraq and Iraqi businessmen also attended the event.
