1 killed, 2 injured in armed attack in east Myanmar

YANGON, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- One villager was killed and two others injured in an ethnic armed group attack in eastern Myanmar's Shan state on Friday, the State Administration Council's Information Team said.

According to the council's information team, the assault was launched by Ta'ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) on Zeedaban village in Nantphatkar village of Kutkai town at around 2:00 p.m. local time on Friday.

TNLA members attacked the village with heavy weapons from some 1,000 meters northwest of the village, the information team said.

The injured were sent to the Kutkai General Hospital for treatment.

A similar attack killed one and injured four others in the Nantphatkar village of Kutkai town on Wednesday.

TNLA is a non-signatory to the government's Nationwide Ceasefire Accord (NCA).
