7 killed while attempting to rescue motorcyclist trapped under truck in S. Tanzania


DAR ES SALAAM, July 5 (Xinhua) -- At least seven people were killed and 13 others injured early Wednesday after a truck knocked them down as they attempted to rescue a motorcyclist trapped under the truck in Momba District of Songwe Region near Tanzania's border with Zambia.

Theopista Mallya, Songwe regional police commander, said the victims, all men, who were attempting to pull the motorcyclist trapped under the truck were knocked down by the truck after its breaks had failed.
