7 die from suspected alcohol poisoning in Morocco: police

RABAT, May 30 (Xinhua) -- Seven people have died and another was in critical condition after drinking suspected toxic alcohol sold by 2 suspects in the Moroccan central city of Meknes, local police said on Tuesday.

The two suspects, aged 67 and 17, were arrested for possessing and selling toxic beverages that endanger public health, said the police in a statement.

The police later seized dozens of empty plastic bottles that contained the toxic beverage which was made from sterilization alcohol.
