DAR ES SALAAM, April 17 (Xinhua) -- The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the East African Community (EAC) on Monday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at renewing and strengthening cooperation in addressing issues on refugees and asylum seekers in need of international protection across the region.
A statement by the EAC said the MoU was signed at the EAC headquarters in Tanzania's northern city of Arusha by Peter Mathuki, EAC secretary general, and Clementine Nkweta-Salami, UNHCR regional director for the East, Horn and Great Lakes Regions.
