South Africa reports improvement in tourism

JOHANNESBURG, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- South Africa's total arrivals in the first six months of 2022 hit 2,285,746, up 147 percent when compared to the same period last year, said Tourism Minister Lindiwe Sisulu Thursday.

Sisulu said at a press briefing in Johannesburg that arrivals from the African continent increased by 109 percent as compared to the same period in 2021, with Zimbabwe accounting for most arrivals to South Africa, followed by Mozambique and Lesotho. The U.S. contributed 128,991 arrivals, and Europe 356,352.
