U.S. dollar ticks up

NEW YORK, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar appreciated in late trading on Monday.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, jumped 0.87 percent to 106.5450 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
