MAPUTO, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Mozambique's National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) announced Friday the arrest of a 37-year-old Angolan citizen who was found to have 38 cocaine capsules in his stomach after landing at the Maputo International Airport on Thursday.

According to SERNIC's spokesperson, Hilario Lole, the individual had travelled from Sao Paulo via Qatar and refused to state what his destination was.

After landing at the International Airport, the individual was taken to Maputo Central Hospital, where he had to expel the drug in 38 capsules. After preliminary examination, the capsules tested positive for the cocaine-type drug, Lole told the press in Maputo.

The official said that the arrest is the result of a joint operation between SERNIC, the Police of the Republic of Mozambique and the customs.

This is the fourth case of drug trafficking registered this year at Maputo International Airport.
