BAGHDAD, July 15 (Xinhua) -- The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has called for more efforts to tackle declining water levels in Iraqi marshlands that increasingly threaten buffalo breeders amid climate change.
The water levels have become "unprecedented low" in July, endangering the livelihoods and communal existence of more than 6,000 rural families who are losing their buffalos, their unique living asset, FAO said in a statement issued on Thursday.
