BERLIN, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- A gunman who carried out an attack on a synagogue in the German city of Halle killing two people in 2019 was sentenced by the Higher Regional Court of Naumburg on Monday to life imprisonment followed by preventive detention.
The sentence effectively rules out Stephan Balliet's early release after 15 years in prison.
