Invasive alien species pose threat to wildlife in Tanzania's national parks: official


DAR ES SALAAM, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- A senior conservation official with the Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) said on Thursday that at least 69 alien species have invaded some of the east African nation's 22 national parks, posing a threat to the survival of wildlife.

Godwell Ole Meing'ataki, TANAPA's assistant conservation commissioner, said some of the invasive species were suffocating the animals' habitats and the ecology.
