Honduras making El Cajon Dam ready for tropical storm Iota

TEGUCIGALPA, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- Starting Saturday, the El Cajon Dam in Honduras will make controlled discharges of 300 to 500 cubic meters of water per second over 48 hours to prepare for tropical storm Iota, the National Electric Power Company (ENEE) reported on Saturday.

As of Friday noon, the hydroelectric plant's water levels had reached almost 286 meters, a meter above maximum capacity, said Rolando Lean, spokesman for the ENEE Audit Commission, at a press conference.
