German shares edge down Friday

FRANKFURT, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged down on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index down 63.16 points, or 0.48 percent, to close at 13,033.20 points.

Deutsche Post lost 3.12 percent, the top loser among the blue chips, followed by renal dialysis equipment supplier Fresenius Medical and multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer which lost 2.69 percent and 2.67 percent respectively.

Reinsurance company Munich Re gained 1.66 percent, becoming the top gainer. Housing company Vonovia and German insurance and financial services company Allianz advanced 1.04 percent and 0.90 percent respectively.

Bayer was the most traded share with a turnover of 284.49 million euros (338.97 million U.S. dollars).

China's Haier, a leading global household appliances manufacturer listed in Frankfurt in 2018, added 1.32 percent to close at 0.74 euros per share on Friday.
