THE food and beverages market (F&B) is hard enough without criminals trying to scam hardworking people in the industry out of their hard-earned cash.
Is there a syndicate pretending to be Johor police to scam catering and food companies?
VERDICT:
TRUE
According to Bernama, a syndicate is scamming food supply and souvenir companies by pretending to be from the Johor police headquarters
Johor police chief Comm Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said that the syndicate was using a phone number with an address in Sandakan, Sabah.
He added that police were conducting investigations to track down the owner of the phone number with the help of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).
"No arrests have been made so far," he said briefly at a media conference here on Tuesday (Feb 3).
A food supply company and a catering company suffered losses totalling RM8,800 after being scammed by the syndicate.
A police report was lodged by the victims on Jan 26 after the company staff realised they had been scammed upon being informed there were no orders made after they made deliveries to the Johor contingent police headquarters.
