NATIONAL football player Akhyar Rashid suffered injuries after allegedly being the victim of a robbery on Thursday (May 2) night.

Through a video spread on social media including Facebook and WhatsApp, the Kedah-born player is said to have been taken to a medical centre for treatment.

"Stop speculating and just pray for Akhyar."

That was the statement given by Terengganu Football Club after it confirmed that the national winger was robbed by several men in Kuala Terengganu on Thursday (May 2) night.

The 25-year-old, who celebrated his birthday on May 1, suffered injuries to his head and legs and was brought to hospital for treatment at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) in Kuala Terengganu.

"The club takes what happened to him seriously. The police are also investigating the incident," said the statement.

"Therefore, the club requests that no party make any wild speculations about this incident to avoid interfering with the investigation process.

"We also want to call on the supporters and football fans all over Malaysia to pray for Akhyar Rashid's recovery!"
