CCTV footage of a car theft incident has gone viral online with comments alleging that the incident occurred in Ipoh.

Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan said the police have confirmed receiving a report by a woman, aged 25, who is the owner of the stolen car at 11.46am on Aug 2.

“The theft incident occurred on Aug 2 at 2.24am at a house in Halaman Meru Permai, Ipoh, Perak.

“The stolen vehicle was a red Perodua Myvi AV, with the registration number AMX 6391. The case is being investigated under Section 279A of the Penal Code for vehicle theft," he said in a statement.

ACP Yahaya said police had also detected the 1min 13 sec video of the incident, which had gone viral, on Aug 7.

He urged the public with information related to the case to contact senior investigation officer ASP Fadli Ahmad, from the Ipoh police headquarters' Criminal Investigation Division, at 019-250 0019 to assist in investigations.
