QuickCheck: Does the voice of Disney's Mulan have a Malaysian father?

Mulan

MING-Na Wen - You might remember her from such blockbusters as the film adaptation of Amy Tan's “The Joy Luck Club” as Chun Li in the Street Fighter movie or most famously, as the voice of Mulan in Disney's 1998 adaptation of the Chinese legend. Some have said over the years that her biological father is in fact Malaysian. Is this true?

Verdict:

TRUE

The Macau-born Ming-Na Wen confirmed this in a tweet in her official account when she shared a video of herself and other Disney voice actors welcoming Kelly Marie Tran to their ranks after she was chosen to voice Raya in the animated movie “Raya and the Last Dragon”.

In the Twitter post, Ming said “yes, my biological father is Malaysian” under the hashtags #warriorprincesses and #southeastasiangals.

So there you have it - right from the warrior actress' mouth, or more accurately, fingers
