IT has been reported that Malaysian fugitive Leonard Glenn Francis escaped from the authorities after cutting off his ankle monitoring bracelet at a San Diego home where he was being held, according to the US Marshals Service. Is he still at large?
On Sept 22, Venezuelan authorities apprehended the Malaysian fugitive, commonly known as Fat Leonard, after he disappeared on Sept 4.
According to US news outlet NBCNews.com, Francis was captured after Venezuelan authorities detained him as he was trying to board a plane bound for another country.
Venezuelan authorities had been made aware that he was on the run by Interpol, US marshals told NBC.
Francis was under house arrest in San Diego and weeks away from sentencing after pleading guilty in 2015 to giving US$35mil (RM159mil) in bribes to US Navy officials.
He had been on the run since cutting off his ankle bracelet on Sept 4.
