QuickCheck: Has the Tourism Ministry appointed any agents to manage its grants?

RECENTLY, several people have been claiming to be agents for the government's Tourism, Arts and Culture Matching Grant. Has the Tourism Ministry appointed any agents to aid such applications?

Verdict:

FALSE

In a statement on Wednesday (Aug 10), the ministry said that it had not appointed any individual or organisation as agents to help with applications for the grant.

The ministry said that eligible parties could apply directly to them for the grant in accordance with set conditions.

It added that applications could be sent to Urus Setia Geran Padanan Pelancongan, Seni dan Budaya, Lembaga Penggalakan Pelancongan Malaysia (Tourism Malaysia), Bahagian Perancangan Strategik, Aras 2, No. 2, Menara 1, Jalan P5/6, Presint 5, 62200 Putrajaya or throughgspsb@tourism.gov.my.

The grant is a government initiative to encourage industry players from various sectors and backgrounds to organise high-impact tourism, arts and cultural events this year to reinstate Malaysia as a top tourist destination.

It is divided into two, namely, the Tourism Sector Matching Grant (GSSP) and Cultural Sector Matching Grant (GSSK) with a total budget of RM50mil, aimed at invigorating and revitalising the tourism and culture sectors that have been affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
