Tokyo reports 143 new cases of Covid-19, total number tops 1,000

TOKYO: Tokyo confirmed 143 new cases of Covid-19 (coronavirus) as of Sunday (April 5) afternoon, metropolitan government officials said, marking the highest rate of increase on record since the outbreak began.

This pushes the total number of Covid-19 cases to 1,034 in the Japanese capital, the most among the 47 prefectures of the country.
