DHAKA: Voting in the mayoral election in the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka passed off generally peacefully on Saturday (Feb 1), but it was marked by a low turnout in the first-ever polling conducted on electronic voting machines in the city.

Chief Election Commissioner Nurul Huda said he was happy with the peaceful atmosphere despite the turnout.
